What is a Vector?

A Vector is the use of geometrical primitives such as points, lines, curves, and polygons, which are all based upon mathematical equations to represent images in computer graphics. What is a Vector best for?

Vector files as used in Adobe Illustrator, Macromedia Freehand, Xara Xtreme and CoralDraw are the industry standard for graphic design, page layout, typography, logos, sharp-edged Artistic illustrations (i.e. cartoons, clip Content, Content, complex geometric patterns), technical illustrations, diagramming, icons and typography. The recent versions of bitmap editors such as Adobe Photoshop support some vector editing tools (e.g. editable paths).

I want a JPEG!

Sure get the best of both worlds with a vector. Drag and drop the vector onto your Photoshop short cut, Photoshop asks for the size/colour space etc, or if you are in a new version of Photoshop then some of the vectors paths may be editable in Photoshop. There you have it. Save it in any file format you like at any size you wish!

What format are the Vector files?

All files are contained in a zip archive. Inside the archive there will be a vector EPS (illustrator version 8+ compatible). Some Artists include a PDF and .ai as well. This is not compulsory. If the file contains any native CS features i.e gradient mesh or transparency, the native CS (illustrator 11) file will be included if indicated in the file details next to the preview, i.e CS file included.

What is a Credit?

A Credit is the form of currency you will need to buy in order to purchase Vector files at VectorStock®. 1 Credit = 1USD. The Credits are only valid on VectorStock® and expire after 12 months from date of purchase : to extend your credits if they have expired please contact support@vectorstock.com. You can buy as many or as little as you like starting from 10 credits. Payments are processed using most major credit cards and/or with your PayPal account via a secure PayPal page.

Why are the files at such a low cost?

VectorStock® is a community-based stock agency. We have a range of contributing Artists from professional world-class graphic designers to hobbyist illustrators. We bring the Artist and designer together directly through our website with minimal agency fees and costs in order to make these amazing Vector files available within most designers' budgets.

What can I use VectorStock® content for?

You may use the content for works that involve advertising, promotional design and many other listed purposes including designs that will be available for commercial resale depending on the license option you choose. A Standard license and Expanded license are avialable to cover a range of applications. All of the images on our site are Royalty-free. See our license types for more detailed information below.

License Types - Standard

Standard License EULA

1. VectorStock® grants you a personal Single-seat, non-exclusive, non-transferable, license to use and reproduce vectors in the following ways.

(a) Advertising, marketing and design, promotional graphics, broadcast TV, film or TVC, film commercials, flyers, brochures and catalogues - digital or hard copy. Website design. Promotional postcards, greeting cards and calendars. Books and book covers, product packaging, editorial in magazines and newspapers, general editorial and newsletters. Ebooks, screen savers and digital banner advertising. Posters and billboards. Sign writing, logo and branding design. Web and on-line digital publications. Software, gaming and computer GUI design, i.e. iPhone apps. If you wish to resale a product, which uses or contains our content you must purchase an Expanded License. If your print or production run will exceed 250,000 units you must purchase an Expanded License.

(b) As a rule the content is not for available for use where the file in its current form is available for resale, or where by the file is transferred to another person or company as part of any transaction. For example you cannot download content edit elements and sell it in vector format. Content is strictly prohibited from being used where there is the potential for the file to be downloaded, copied in any way or extracted, reinstated or restored by a third party.

Any use of the content that is outside these specifications with-in will incur infringement of copyright proceedings.

2. Not permitted License Uses:

(a) You may not use the content in any design template applications intended for resale on-line, hard copy or otherwise unless you purchase an Expanded license option. You may not incorporate the content directly in any product that will be available for re-distribution or re-use of the content (such as flash web sites, web templates etc) or is otherwise made available in a manner such that a person can extract or rip or reproduce the content in its electronic form. Note: There are ways of encoding or locking digital files, this does not constitute securing the file from a third party in any way or exclude you from the above.

For clarity, you may not use the content directly in its original entirety in products for resale, license or other distribution, unless you purchase an Expanded license and the application is permitted under the Expanded license options.

(b) Only you the purchaser are licensed to use the content, although you may transfer files containing content to your clients, printers, or ISP for the purpose of reproduction for permitted uses only, provided that such parties shall have no further or additional rights to use the content and cannot access or extract it from any file you provide. You may make ONE copy of the content for back-up purposes.

(c) The content must not be used in any obscene, immoral, infringing, defamatory nature, be involved in any material that may bring any person or property reflected or described in the content into disrepute or cause any legal action.

(d) All content available on VectorStock®.com MAY NOT BE sub-licensed, re-sold, rented, lent, assigned, gifted, transferred or distribute in any vector based form.

(e) The content must remain secure in you hands at all times, you must take reasonable steps to ensure the file is not exposed to any environment in-which it could be transferred, copied or stolen while in your possession. It MUST NOT be made available for distribution on any peer-to-peer network at any time. The EULA Standard or Expnaded does not permit the use of any part of any purchased VectorStock® content on a competing website or business in any media format, or in any situation that may be regarded as a conflict of interest between VectorStock® and the end user and or their use of our content. NOTE: This license may be updated from time to time to include relavant new and future media usage/applications. This agreement is retrospective and supersedes any previous versions or modifications. All users will be notified of major changes via email.

License Types - Expanded

Expanded License EULA

1. VectorStock® grants you a Multi-seat, non-exclusive, non-transferable, license to use and reproduce vectors in the following ways, in addition to and including all Standard License applications.

(a) You may use the content on items (digital or hardcopy) for resale such as t-shirts and fabric prints, flags, postcards, stickers, posters, coffee mugs, calendars or the like. Digital reproduction in non Vector formats ( jpg, gif, bmp ) on websites such as Cafepress or Digital Scrapbooking kits. You may use the content in commercial software applications or GUI design for resale with no limitations regarding the number of copies or print run.

(b) You may use the Image in website templates, document templates, wallpapers, screensavers, e-cards or similar products for resale with no limitations regarding the number of copies.

All other restrictions from the "not permitted" section from the standard license still apply.

(c) All license agreements prohibit the resale or re distribution of any part or element of the content as a vector, or in any format that will allow a third party access to the file in digital vector format i.e EPS, Ai, Flash, SVG and the like.

For example the content can not be resold or distributed in a Flash template unless the flash elements have been converted to a non vector format. The EULA Standard or Expnaded dose not permit the use of any part of any purchased VectorStock® content on a competing website or business in any media format, or in any situation that may be regarded as a conflict of interest between VectorStock® and the end user and or their use of our content. Your Multi-seat license gives you the option to share the vector(s) with other people within your organization or company, not limited by the number of users within your organization or company. You warrant that you will do your best to prevent third parties from duplicating the content. NOTE: This license may be updated from time to time to include relavant new and future media usage/applications. This agreement is retrospective and supersedes any previous versions or modifications. All users will be notified of major changes via email.

My file won't download?

Note: You can download purchased files as many times as required for 24 hours after the purchase in your 'My Transactions' section here

If your file did not download you may not have completed the download process correctly. If credits were deducted and you confirmed your download by ticking the "agree to terms box" then clicked DOWNLOAD, the file would have automatically downloaded to your PC. Try a key word search on your PC - key word " VectorStock". If the file you downloaded seems to be damaged please try downloading it again, this will often fix your problem. You can download the file as many times as you required for 24 hours after the purchase. If it still looks damaged please contact support@vectorstock.com so that we can fix the file and/or give you a refund. You can use our site with confidence. No credits will be lost!

My file is corrupted?

If for some reason the file you downloaded seems to be damaged or corrupted please try downloading it again, this will often fix your problem. You have 24 hours to try again. If it still looks damaged please contact support@vectorstock.com or fill in the contact form in the help section so that we can fix the file and/or give you a refund – please note the file number in your support email. You can use our site with confidence. No credits will be lost! NOTE: All files are zipped archives, make sure you have unzipped the archive. The folder will contain a vector EPS file. This file requires vector editing software, such as Adobe Illustrator to edit/open this file. The application must be able to open EPS version 8 files. Older applications may not open the files correctly. Please check the release notes with your application to confirm it is compatible with Illustrator EPS version 8 files.

My file won't open?

If for some reason the file you can’t open the file you just downloaded please make sure you are firstly unzipping the archive then, opening the vector in vector editing software, such as Adobe Illustrator. Your vector editing application must be able to open EPS version 8 files. Older applications may not open the files correctly. Please check the release notes with your application to confirm it is compatible with Illustrator EPS version 8 files. If the file contains Gradient Mesh shading you will need Adobe Illustrator to edit the Mesh correctly.

I need to download my files again, what's MyArchive?

Get Access to all your vectors 24/7 with MyArchive. Your files are stored securely and can be accessed when you like from where you like any time. Purchase a 1 year subscription for only 5 credits or 3 year access for 10 credits. A normal download link is only valid for 24 hours but with your MyArchive subscription you get unlimited access 24/7 for the length of your subscription. With MyArchive you don't have to worry about backing up your downloads, simply login an download the files again and again as you require as many times as you like

My credits are not there?

If you have just purchased credits and they are not displaying in your account balance please try and restart your browser. PayPal transactions are almost always instant but from time to time they have delays - please give the process a few hours before contacting us if they are not displaying.

If you have used a PayPal eCheck the process takes PayPal up to 4 business days to clear the funds to us - as soon as this happens your credits will be active. If you do not have a current balance to cover your purchase in your PayPal account, i.e your bank account is linked to your PayPal account to draw funds, the purchase will default to eCheck. If you are still having problems please contact support@vectorstock.com so that we can assist you.

I need to upgrade a file to an Expnaded License

To upgrade a license option to Expanded for a file you have already purchased with a Standard license simply click on the license icon in your My Transaction section. There you can upgrade the license and pay the differenct between the Standard and Expanded license, i.e Upgrading a 1 credit file you have already purchased to a 25 credit Expanded license will cost 24 credits.

Membership (user) & content license agreement

A. VectorStock® is the owner and operator of a certain website accessible through the World Wide Web at the following URL: http:/www.VectorStock®.com

B. Member is the end user (see User License Agreement [4]) of certain original works to be downloaded via VectorStock® and made a part hereof (the “Content”).

C. Member represents and warrants that the Content is to be used only as specified in the Content License Agreement and the exclusive copyright owner remains with the original Artist.

D. VectorStock® grants a license to use the Art, subject to the terms and conditions set forth in this Agreement.

2. INTRODUCTION

Welcome to VectorStock®.com. The following contract spells out what you can expect from VectorStock®.com, and what we expect from you. We intend this to be the legal equivalent of your signature on a written contract, and equally binding. Only by clicking “I agree to the VectorStock® terms, conditions & license agreement” will you be able to download or upload (if you have an upload account) VectorStock®.com. This agreement is in addition to the Terms of Use applicable to the Site and that all persons providing content to or downloading content from the Site have previously entered into.

3. ACCESS & SERVICES

Your access to the various services available on this site depends on your status as either a Member or Artist. You may change or discontinue your account at any time. We reserve the right to modify, suspend or terminate access to the service on our system at any time for any reason without notice or refund, including the right to require you to change your login identification code or password. We also reserve the right to delete all program and data files associated with your account and/or other information you have on our system.

NOW, THEREFORE, in consideration of the promises and agreements set forth herein, the parties, each intending to be legally bound hereby, do promise and agree as follows:

4. GRANT OF LICENSE (Content License Agreement)

The artist and VectorStock® hereby grant you a perpetual, non-exclusive, non-transferable worldwide license to use the individual content item you physically download via www.VectorStock®.com (and only then) for the specified uses (as set out below in Permitted License Uses - either the Standard or Expanded EULA). All other rights relating to the content, including, all copyright and other intellectual property rights relating to the content, are retained by VectorStock® or the artist of the original Content, as the case may be. As a member or artist and when downloading the file you agree to these licence terms.

4.1. Please refer to License Types - Standed & Expanded.

5. CREDITS

1 credit = 1 USD. VectorStock® reserves the right to edit this formula.

6. TERM AND TERMINATION

6.1 The term of this license shall be perpetual, unless terminated pursuant to the terms hereof.

6.2 This Agreement is effective until it is terminated. You can terminate this Agreement by destroying the content and any permitted derivative works, along with any copies or archives of it or accompanying materials (if applicable), and ceasing to use the content for any purpose. The Agreement also terminates without notice from VectorStock® if at any time you fail to comply with any of its terms. Upon termination, you must immediately cease using the content and for any purpose. You must destroy or delete all copies and archives of the content or accompanying materials, you may be requested to acknowledge this in writing at the request of VectorStock®.

6.3 VectorStock® shall have the right to terminate this Agreement, with or without cause, upon giving five (5) days advanced notice to the Artist via email.

6.4 Upon any termination hereof, all rights licensed to VectorStock® as provided herein shall terminate and the Member shall destroy all graphical depictions of the Content downloaded from.

7. REPRESENTATIONS AND WARRANTIES

The Member makes the following representations and warranties to the VectorStock®:

7.1 The Member is the sole and exclusive user of the Content.

7.2 The Member has the full right, power and authority to enter into this Agreement.

8. PROPRIETARY RIGHTS

8.1 The Member acknowledges and agrees that the original Artist maintains all exclusive rights in and to all proprietary rights relative to the Art, including but not limited to the copyright and all moral rights and other rights that may exist under any state or federal law, subject only to the right of the Member to use the Content within the scope of this Agreement. The Member agrees that it shall not contest, dispute, or take any actions in contravention of the proprietary rights of the Artist, VectorStock® in and to the Content and depictions thereof.

8.2 The Member shall not have the right to obtain and apply for a copyright registration relative to the graphical depiction of the Content; to the extent separate copyright of such graphical depiction is available or necessary.

8.3 The Member agrees to indemnify, hold harmless and defend VectorStock®, and any of its employees, directors and shareholders from and against any and all claims that the Content infringes upon the proprietary rights of any other party.

8.4 The Member shall not have the sole and exclusive right, in its discretion, to bring any claim, suit, threat or demand against any other party claiming infringement upon the proprietary rights of the Artist in and to the original Art.

9. CONTENT

VectorStock® acts as an exchange/agency of content between those who provide content to the site and those who wish to use such content. VectorStock® grants no rights and makes no warranties regarding the use of names, people, trademarks, patented or copyrighted designs or works of Content or architecture or other forms of intellectual property represented in any content. While we have made reasonable efforts to correctly categorize and keyword the content, we do not warrant the accuracy of such information.

10. MISCELLANEOUS PROVISIONS

10.1 All notice herein shall be sent via email, to the parties at their respective email addresses as set forth on the Membership page. Either party may change its address for purposes of this Agreement by giving notice to the other party as set forth herein.

10.2 This Agreement shall be governed by and any dispute or interpretation hereof shall be under the laws of New Zealand. The parties agree that any legal action relative hereto shall be brought in the courts in New Zealand and each of the parties consent to jurisdiction of such courts.

10.3 This Agreement shall be binding upon and shall inure to the benefit of the parties and their respective successors, assigns, executors, estates, and administrators.

10.4 The waiver of an instance of breach or default by either party shall not act as a modification of this Agreement nor shall it foreclose such party from claiming subsequent breaches or default based upon the same or different set of circumstances.

10.5 This Agreement contains the entire understanding of the parties relative to the subject matter hereof and supersedes and replaces all prior agreements and understandings between the parties.

10.6 This Agreement may be modified from time to time. This agreement is retrospective and supersedes any previous versions or modifications. The Member will be notified via email on doing so.

On confirmation of Membership via email at VectorStock®.com the parties have fully executed this Agreement on the date of sign up, with full knowledge of its content and significance and intending to be legally bound by the terms hereof. NOTE: VectorStock® will from time to time send you emails regarding major site upgrades and important site related issues that affect you directly (this is NOT a regular email newsletter) - you can choose not to receive these emails by clicking the unsubscribe link in the message

Terms & conditions (Purchasing downloads)

The following is the terms of the agreement between VectorStock® Media Limited (“Company”) and the buyer (“Buyer”) of content through VectorStock®.com (the “Site”). If you do not agree to these terms, you will not be able to purchase anything, so please review these terms carefully:

1 Introduction

Buyer agrees to the terms and conditions outlined in this Online Contract ("Contract") with respect to the goods, services and information provided by or through the Site. This Contract constitutes the entire and only agreement between the Company and Buyer, and supersedes any and all prior or contemporaneous agreements, representations, warranties, and understandings with respect to the goods, services and information provided by or through the Site, and the subject matter of this Contract. Buyer agrees to review this Contract prior to purchasing anything and purchase of a good or service shall be deemed acceptance of this Contract.

2 Setup and Payment

Buyer represents and warrants that (i) the credit card information supplied is true, correct and complete and (ii) charges incurred by the Buyer will be honoured by the Buyer's credit card company and (iii) Buyer shall pay charges incurred by Buyer at the amounts in effect at the time incurred, including all applicable taxes. Buyer shall be responsible for all charges incurred through use of Buyer's password. Buyer agrees to keep his or her password confidential and to notify Company within 24 hours of any breach of this Contract or unauthorized use of the password. Company does not protect Buyer from unauthorized use of Buyer's password.

3 Grant of License (Content License Agreement)

The artist and VectorStock® hereby grant you a perpetual, non-exclusive, non-transferable worldwide license to use the individual content item you physically download via www.VectorStock®.com (and only then) for the specified uses (as set out below in Permitted License Uses). All other rights relating to the content, including, all copyright and other intellectual property rights relating to the content, are retained by VectorStock® or the artist of the original Content, as the case may be. As a member or artist and when downloading the file you agree to these licence terms.

4 Editing, Deleting, and Modification

Company reserves the right in its sole discretion to edit or delete any information or content appearing on the Site and to remove any goods and services for sale. Upon notice published over the Service, VectorStock® may modify this Contract, or prices, and may discontinue or revise any or all aspects of the Site in its sole discretion and without prior notice. Modification of this Contract will be deemed effective upon publication on the Site with respect to transactions occurring after said date.

5 Right to Refuse

Company reserves the right in its sole discretion to refuse service at any time. Sale of any goods or services is subject to availability.

6 Indemnification

Buyer agrees to indemnify, defend and hold VectorStock® and its affiliates, licensors and suppliers harmless from any liability, loss, claim and expense, including reasonable attorney's fees, related to a Buyer's violation of this Contract or use of this Site.

7 Non-Transferable

Buyer's right to use this website are not transferable and is subject to any limits established by VectorStock® or by Buyer's credit card company.

8 Disclaimer

THE SERVICE, CONTENT, GOODS AND SERVICES FROM OR THROUGH THE SERVICE ARE PROVIDED "AS-IS," "AS AVAILABLE," AND ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, ARE DISCLAIMED (INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO THE DISCLAIMER OF ANY IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY AND FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE). THE SOLE AND ENTIRE MAXIMUM LIABILITY OF COMPANY, FOR ANY REASON, AND BUYER'S SOLE AND EXCLUSIVE REMEDY FOR ANY CAUSE WHATSOEVER, SHALL BE LIMITED TO THE AMOUNT PAID BY THE CUSTOMER FOR THE PARTICULAR ITEMS PURCHASED. COMPANY AND ANY OF ITS AFFILIATES, DEALERS OR SUPPLIERS ARE NOT LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, SPECIAL, INCIDENTAL, OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES (INCLUDING DAMAGES FOR LOSS OF BUSINESS, LOSS OF PROFITS, LITIGATION, OR THE LIKE), WHETHER BASED ON BREACH OF CONTRACT, BREACH OF WARRANTY, TORT (INCLUDING NEGLIGENCE), PRODUCT LIABILITY OR OTHERWISE, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES. THE LIMITATIONS OF DAMAGES SET FORTH ABOVE ARE FUNDAMENTAL ELEMENTS OF THE BASIS OF THE BARGAIN BETWEEN COMPANY AND BUYER. 10 Use of Information

Company reserves the right, and Buyer authorizes Company, to the use and assignment of all information regarding Buyer’s use of the Site and all information provided by Buyer, subject to applicable law.

11 Governing law

This Contract shall be treated as though it were executed and performed in New Zealand and shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of New Zealand (without regard to conflict of law principles). Any cause of action of Buyer with respect to the Site must be instituted within 1 month after any purchase or be forever waived and barred. All actions shall be subject to the limitations set forth in Section 8. The language in this Contract shall be interpreted as to its fair meaning and not strictly for or against any party.

12 Litigation

All legal proceedings arising out of or in connection with this Contract shall be brought solely in New Zealand and Buyer expressly submits to the jurisdiction of said courts and Buyer consents to extra-territorial service of process. Should any part of this Contract be held invalid or unenforceable, that portion shall be construed consistent with applicable law as nearly as possible to reflect the original intentions of the parties and the remaining portions shall remain in full force and effect. To the extent that anything in or associated with the Site or the Company is in conflict or inconsistent with this Contract, this Contract shall take precedence. Failure of Company to enforce any provision of this Contract shall not be deemed a waiver of such provision nor of the right to enforce such provision.

13 Acknowledgment

This Agreement represents the entire understanding between you and us regarding your relationship to Online and supersedes any prior statements or representations. IF YOU AGREE TO BE BOUND BY THE TERMS OF THIS ONLINE AGREEMENT, By clicking “I agree the VectorStock® terms, conditions and license agreement” on sign up, downloading and uploading you will be bound by this agreement.

We believe your business is no one else's. Your privacy is important to you…and to us. So we'll protect the information you share with us. To protect your privacy, VectorStock® follows different principles in accordance with worldwide practices for customer privacy and data protection.

1 We won’t sell or give away your name, mail address, phone number, email address, credit card number or any other information to anyone.
2 We’ll use state-of-the-art security measures to protect your information from unauthorized users.

NOTICE

We will ask you when we need information that personally identifies you (personal information) or allows us to contact you. Generally, this information is requested when you create a Membership on the site. We use your Personal Information for four primary purposes:

We will provide you with the means to ensure that your personal information is correct and current. You may review and update this information at any time in your profile. There you can:

2 Tell us whether you want us to send you marketing information, or whether you want third parties to send you their offers by postal mail.

We take strong precautions to protect your data from loss, misuse, unauthorized access or disclosure, alteration, or destruction.

We guarantee your e-commerce transactions to be 100% safe and secure via PayPal™. When you place orders or access your personal account information, you're utilizing a secure server software SSL via PayPal™, which encrypts your personal information before it's sent over the Internet. SSL is one of the safest encryption technologies available.

ENFORCEMENT


If for some reason you believe VectorStock® Media Limited has not adhered to these principles, please notify us by email at support@vectorstock.com, and we will do our best to determine and correct the problem promptly. Be certain the words Privacy Policy are in the Subject line.

CUSTOMER PROFILES

When you register, we create your profile, assign a personal identification number, then send this personal identification number back to your hard drive in the form of a cookie, which is a very small bit of code. It is your passport to seamless travel across VectorStock®, allowing you to download free software, order free newsletters, and visit premium sites without having to fill out registration forms with information you've already provided. Even if you switch computers, you won't have to re-register – just use your login/password to identify yourself.

How do I get a refund?

If a credit is deducted in error, or a file is either damaged or corrupt please contact support with the file number and we’ll email the file to you or refund your credits if there is a problem with the file. Please note that you have 24 hours from the time of your initial download to re-download the vector.
